Writing with the power to unlock.

Why

Writing to go places.

"Travel does what good novelists also do to the life of everyday, placing it like a picture in a frame or a gem in its setting,
so that the intrinsic qualities are made more clear. Travel does this with the very stuff that everyday life is made of,
giving to it the sharp contour and meaning of art." - Freya Stark

Freya Stark was a British explorer and writer who recorded her adventures in the Middle East and Afghanistan in more than two dozen travel books. She also wrote other autobiographical pieces and essays living to almost 100 years of age.

I love her connection between good writing and travel as going on a journey is a big part of why writers write and readers read. But her insight into why they both have the power to stir our souls and spark our hearts, not only with the grand and foreign, but with the everyday that we have grown to ignore, resonates at my core. The pedestrian becomes powerful, the daily becomes divine.

This is why I read. It is why I write.

I am passionate about adding stamps to my passport everyday via the everyday. And to take as many who are willing along for the ride.
